FAQ
NXS Hair, Inc. Frequently Asked Questions
I want to perm the tress how do I do that?
It is possible to perm your HCS Tress, however the perm process is very different to the process for a traditional perm. This is a service that must be done by a licensed, HCS certified professional only. Stylists may contact their local Salon Consultant for instructions.
Can I colour my tress?
Yes, it is possible to color your HCS Tress. Only certain types of colour may be used on the HCS Tress. Stylists may contact their local Salon Consultant for processing times, and details. Any chemical service must be performed by a licensed, HCS certified professional only.
What preparations should be made before application of Tress?
Client hair should be clean, dry and flat ironed. HCS Tress should be washed, dried and flat ironed. Any colour services should be completed prior to application of the tress.
What type of brush should I use with the Tress?
A natural boar bristle brush should be used. It is extremely important to brush the hair daily. Hair should be clipped up and brushed methodically section by section. It is important to brush between the tresses, also making sure to apply gentle pressure to the brush to reach the base of the tress.
Are there any fashion pink or blue, etc colors available?
There are no precoloured fashion colours available at this time. Your HCS certified stylist can provide information about colouring the tress in fashion colours.
How is the tress applied if you do not use bonding or weaving applications?
We use a gentle cylinder locking method. Our cylinders have a soft silicone insert so there is no damage to the hair. There is no heat, glue, braiding, or sewing used.
Can the HCS Extensions be worn in ponytails or updos?
Most definitely! They are perfect for weddings, proms, photo-shoots, etc to achieve any type of updo or ponytail look with out exposing any tell-tale sign of extensions.
Do the Tresses come in different lengths?
Yes, we will soon offer different length options but at the moment we only have the 20 inch (50cm) length.
Are there any products I should avoid?
We recommend any HCS client use high quality professional salon products. There are few limitations as to what products you can use on our Tresses. It is good to try to use shampoos and conditioners that are sulfate free. Avoid products containing protein and consult your stylist before using specialty products such as hair masks and dandruff treatments and shampoos.
What is the maintenance for the HCS Extensions? How often should I see my stylist?
You will need to return to your stylist every four to six weeks for a tightening.
Are the extensions Human Hair?
Yes! 100% human hair is used to manufacture the Tresses.
Do you offer any synthetic hair extensions?
No, we only have 100% human hair extensions available.
Can I chemically straighten the extensions?
We do not recommend chemically straightening the extensions. The hair comes with a natural wave that is easily blow dried or flat ironed out. Any chemical process will shorten the life of the Tress. Any chemical service should be preformed by an HCS certified professional only.
Is the HCS Tress uncomfortable or painful to wear?
The tress is designed to be virtually undetectable by anyone, even the person wearing it. After the initial application you may feel the tress for a few days, however, most clients report they hardly notice it is there!
How long can I wear my HCS Tress?
The life span varies from tress to tress and client to client. It is important to follow all home care instructions provided to you by your stylist. The better care you take of your tress the longer it will last. The tresses are designed to last anywhere from 4-6 months depending on the care given.
How often can I shampoo the Tress?
We recommend you wash your hair three times or less per week.
What kind of conditioner is recommended for the best care of the HCS Tress?
Moisturizing conditioners are recommended.
What makes the Hair Complements System different from other extensions?
HCS uses no heat, no glue, no solvents, no braiding. We use a gentle undetectable silicone lined cylinder locking method which causes virtually no damage to the client's hair if applied properly and taken care of properly. The HCS method distributes the weight of the tress evenly across the entire back of the clients head which is unique to our system. The hair has natural movement, and blends beautifully with the clients hair. You do not see the "piecey or chunky" look you get from "individual" method extensions.
What is the application and removal time of the HCS?
Depending on how many tresses you apply, application can generally be complete within one hour. Removal time is generally complete in less than 20 minutes.
Can I use heat for styling the tress, such as curling iron, flat iron, blow drier, etc?
Since the tress is made of 100% human hair, you want to treat the hair with care. You may style the tress with a blow drier, curling iron, flat iron, etc, however, as you would with your own hair, apply heat protection products to the hair prior to using heat tools. With any hair, the less heat you use the longer it will last!
Does the HCS shed?
The HCS will shed the same way your own hair sheds. It is normal to lose some hair every day.
Are the HCS reusable?
Yes! That is one feature that is so wonderful about this system! You may take out the tress and reapply it as many times as you wish. Because this system take so little time to remove and replace it accommodates those who like to remove and replace their hair frequently. People who are on certain medications or with medical conditions that may cause hair loss should consult their doctor as well as notify your hair stylist during consultation.
Who is a candidate for the HCS?
Almost anyone is a candidate for the HCS! Please keep in mind that applying hair extensions will require additional maintenance to your normal hair styling routine. Consult with a HCS professional to help you decide if hair extensions are right for you.
Who is qualified to apply the HCS?
Only licensed hair cosmetologists are permitted to attend our training classes. Once a stylist has passed our training course, they will be certified to apply HCS. Only certified stylists are permitted to purchase and apply the hair.
Where can I find a stylist to apply HCS extension on me?
You can use the salon locator on the NXS Hair, Inc web site.
Are there any known allergies to the Tress band or to the Cylinders?
Our cylinders are made from aluminum and silicone and the Tress band is made from silicone and polyurethane. An allergy resulting from any of these compounds is highly unlikely.
